Back Home Again in Indiana

After a few minutes delay on our take off, we made it home to Indiana no problem.

Bags have been unpacked, laundry started, and Louie has gotten a bath - big day!

We had such a great time in Georgia for Christmas and New Years! Thanks to everyone for making our trip so fun.

Last day on the island :(

What a great last day on the island....bittersweet.

We started with lunch at Nautica Joe's. It just wasn't as good as usual but we still can't complain.

After lunch Corey and I headed to the golfer's paradise (aka Sea Island Golf Club). I putted for a bit before meeting Mike and Ali for 9 holes on Sea Side. Only Mikey and I played - the rest of the crew rode along.

After golf we hung out at the lodge to watch the bagpiper. Lucky for us the sun was also setting close by!

We brought in some dinner tonight (after a mishap with calling the wrong Barbara Jean's restaurant with a 912 area code - but it all worked out). After euchre and watching football - we all need to pack and get ready to leave tomorrow AM.

Wish I could stay longer in SSI but I am ready to see our puppy!!!!

Happy Birthday Mikey

Everyone was a little sluggish this morning - for obvious reason. After the breath of life was felt throughout the house, the kids headed out for a late lunch at Gnat's. The Georgia football game was on - it was almost a tailgate scene with a bonfire, tv's outside, and oysters being steamed.

We started with some bloody Mary's.

After a long lunch, Corey, Mom, Dad, and I went to see Marley and Me. It was a great movie - although not as great as the book. And what a tear jerker.
A rematch euchre game was played pre dinner.

Birthday dinner was held at the house - and it was delish. The birthday boy got to make a wish.

It is going to be an early night for me - and probably most everyone else in the house. With warmer weather coming tomorrow ... it will probably be a golf kind of day on SSI.

Happy New Year!

Welcome 2009!

I started New Year's Eve with a "b double e double r - u - n ... beer run" in the runner.

After beer was cold - party time!

Corey and I had a dance party outside on the porch while some of the party inside was listening to Elton John.

Champagne toast at midnight!

Here we are - the first picture of everyone together in 2009.

Happy New Year and Happy Birthday Mike!

Last day of 2008

It is a gorgeous day for the last one of 2008!

Corey and I started the day with a little shopping around the island (I was the only one actually shopping) and then we went to Mullet Bay for lunch. Corey started like a champ 12 hours before ringing in the new year.

After some lunch we went to the golf course.

We were planning to get 9 holes in ... but it seems that the great weather also attracted all of the Sea Island golfers! It was packed. Instead of playing we practiced putting and chipping (which is what I need to be practicing).

It was pretty windy on the course.

Once back from golf we went out for a walk on the beach. We caught Mom and Ali on their way back from a LONG beach walk to the village for lunch at Barbara Jean's.

This was a great way to say goodbye to 2008 and get ready to welcome 2009!
Party time soon! I need to look at the inside of my eyelids for a bit and drink a big diet Coke before the festivities start.

Sunrise, Sunrise

I got up early (set my alarm and all) to get to the beach to watch the sunrise. It was fun to welcome the sun after I had said goodnight to it last night.

And here is one of my first shadows of the day

Although my hands and feet were pretty much numb for the 40 minutes I was on the beach - it was worth it! The entire time I was outside watching the sunrise I was singing Norah Jones.

Tonight is our "HUGE" New Year's Eve party - preparations started last night and will continue all day. My prep includes golf (either practice or practice and 9 holes) and maybe a nap (it might be hard to stay up so late when I got up so early).

Bubba's

What a great sunset at the Cloister tonight!

And then a fabulous dinner at Bubba Garcia's -- three cheers for three layer grilled shrimp tostada!!

After dinner we had an intense euchre tournament - winner still TBD!

Some pics from the Island

Tibi or not to be

It is still so beautiful outside! We have been sooo lucky with this weather. Today started out a bit cooler than other days, but that didn't deter Corey and I from a run.

After a great run we all headed to Tibi (Mom, Ali, Corey and me). I am glad I found a few things - a trip to SSI is complete when there is a Tibi purchase.

After our Tibi excursion we took a quick tour of Sea Island before dropping Mom off for golf with Mrs. Keach and Mrs. Bennet. Ali, Corey, and I then went to Nautica Joe's for some wraps - and you guessed it - sweet potato fries. Nautica Joe's restaurant that we usually go to was closed - they have closed one of their two stores due to economic conditions. You know things are pretty bad when they charge for water.

I am sitting on the porch now just soaking up the sun.

Gnat's Landing doesn't dissapoint

Last night started with a bit of a dance party (dance party for one).

When the dance party was over, we headed out to dinner at Gnat's. Here's the gang. I did get a side of sweet potato fries. : )
We walked over the the Keaches once we got back from dinner ... Julie and Brenden are leaving the island today so we wanted to say goodbye.
Lastly, how great is this sign?! This was hanging at Gnat's when we got there.
Today's weather - sunny mid 60's. Might not play golf -- I need to go over and practice my putting!
